The peak named Mount Harriot is the highest peak in South Andaman and this is also a national park. Its height is 365 meters above sea level and we had already made a program to go here. We also trekked even at the highest peak of the entire Andaman, so it was nothing in front of him. But here is a special thing that you can go to the top of the mountain by vehicle here and secondly, it holds the status of being a national park because there is a plethora of wildlife ranging from butterflies to other animals.
This region has a small population that lives in the foothills and if you wanna go through the road to reach here, then you will have to measure a very long distance. If you come by sea route, the way to get here is a short distance away. To come here, one has to come on a jetty called Bombooflat. For which we had taken auto only for ten rupees and then had to take a ticket of ten rupees for the boat.
We reached Jetty in a fifteen minutes journey. We had locals in the boat as well as also had five women, one of whose husband was on posting here and her relatives came to meet, so she was taking them on trekking.
After getting off from Jetty, we went to a shop there and was having breakfast, then saw those women talking to a local driver. She was asking to go by jeep and the driver was telling them the rate of the full taxi. Seeing the opportunity, I also proposed to go because I already knew that you don't get any shared vehicle to go here. If we had to take a taxi or jeep for ourselves, it's better to go along with them. Women had no objection but their condition was that we have to sit at the back and we accepted. The peak is ten kilometers from here and not more than half of the ten are hilly ways, rather walks along the shore of the sea.
When the hilly path comes then the dense forest starts and the movement of wild animals can also be seen here. There is parking here only a little before the gate of the national park and here the jeep landed us. After this, all started moving but I was seeing butterflies here in bulk's price. So I started taking their pictures. There are some cottages made at the highest place here and some viewpoints. One of which is seen in a photo printed on our 20's note which shows the lighthouse among the green trees.
Here was a board of trekking to go to Kala Patthar Beach. The time was monsoon and the women agreed to do the trekking in the forest, that we are also walking together and we went far enough in the forest. Meanwhile, what happened that we had seen, but the women did not think.
There were two girls among the women, who wore capris. After walking a little away, all of them realized that leeches had stuck on their feet, and not only that, after that, where we saw, only leeches were all there, whether it was trees, leaves or stones, there was no place to put feet anywhere. After that, there was such a scream in the quiet forest that do not ask. It was not that leeches were not sticking on us. The same situation was also with us and leeches were entered into our shoes and had even reached the underwear. Even after removing them from wood etc. our suspicions were not rid off. So we thought it appropriate to return. Leech was at its peak at this time.
Sunlight was also difficult to reach in this forest. Everyone sat for a while before reaching the jeep and searched for leech. After that, we went back. There is a ticket of 20 rupees to come here and also have to pay 20 rupees for cameras. After this, the jeep drove us back to Bombooflat jetty and the women got busy with some other work after getting off. While we took advantage of being three boys and one fellow ran for taking tickets while two unloaded the goods and reached it to the ferry. And we rode on the ferry. The next ferry was to arrive an hour later and we also had to run a little. So it doesn't matter because you had to go to the next destination.
