Chamundi Hills located in Mysore, Karnataka and if you are in Mysore, then you should definitely visit here. This hill is considered very sacred and pious because of the temple of goddess Chamunda. We turned our car towards the temple. After being through the winding paths we reached the temple where we parked our cars and walked towards the temple which was a scant distance away. On the way to the temple, there is a square where a tall statue of Mahishasura stands.
There is a market after this that goes to the temple. This temple was built in the 12th century. This temple symbolizes Goddess Durga's victory over Mahishasura. The main idol of Goddess Durga inside this temple is said to be made of pure gold designed through Dravid architecture. This temple, which is 40 meters high, has seven floors. There is also a Mahabaleshwar temple behind the main temple, which is said to be quite old. Near the temple and other parts of the hill, a delightful view of the plains below. Even the Mysore Palace looks very exquisite from this hill. Then we did not have a great zoom camera, otherwise, great photos come here.
On the way, there is also a 5 meter high black stone statue of Nandi. The opening hours of the temple are open from 7 ‘am’ to 2 ‘pm’ and from 3 to 6 ‘pm’ in the evening.
